FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (AP) - A North Dakota man is accused of transporting zebra mussels to a Minnesota lake on an infested boat lift.

Fifty-four-year-old George Wynn of Fargo, N.D., is charged with a misdemeanor in Otter Tail County District Court.

KBRF-AM reports Wynn is accused of moving a boat lift from Lake Lizzie, a lake infested with zebra mussels, to Rose Lake near Vergas.

Prosecutor Heather Brandborg says Wynn is not accused of introducing zebra mussels into Rose Lake but of transporting the invasive species.

Wynn declined comment Thursday until he can talk to his attorney. A court appearance is set for Jan. 17.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources treated Rose Lake with chemicals this fall in an attempt to kill the zebra mussels, which were not at reproductive stage yet.
