ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - The Sherburne County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to identify who shot and killed two cattle in the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge.

Deputies were called on Tuesday to an area near 293rd Avenue Northwest in Blue Hill Township, after a man said he found a cow and a calf shot to death.

The cattle graze on the protected land of the wildlife refuge.

Based on the decomposition, investigators believe they have been dead for several days.

The animals were found by a creek about a quarter mile north of Blue Hill Cemetery.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office investigators at 763-765-3500.
