WALKER, MN (AP) - Prosecutors in Cass County say a Pine River man killed an acquaintance as the victim begged him to stop his attack, then buried the man's body and burned his clothes.
Twenty-eight-year-old Dane Riley is charged with second-degree intentional homicide and interfering with a corpse.
Mark Huesman's remains were found in a shallow grave in rural Pine River on July 24th. He had been reported missing a day before.
A criminal complaint says Riley picked up Huesman at a house on July 14th and they went to Riley's residence. The complaint says a woman staying at Riley's trailer house told investigators she woke to the sound of gunshots, went outside and saw Riley hitting Huesman and could hear Huesman begging Riley to stop.
Riley is being held on one million dollars unconditional bail, or 750-thousand dollars with conditions.
