ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Two women are injured after a woman plowed her car backward into an outdoor patio of a St. Paul restaurant.

St. Paul police Cmdr. Todd Axtell says the 74-year-old driver mistakenly put the car into reverse and then hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.

The car went through a rope and stanchions into the patio area, where about eight customers sat at the Finnish Bistro around 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Two women, ages 42 and 51, were pinned against a brick wall.

Axtell tells the Star Tribune (http://bit.ly/JM5NU2) the women were taken to a local hospital for injuries not thought to be life threatening.

He says the driver and her female passenger were not hurt.
