SARTELL, Minn. (KNSI) One person had to be rescued Thursday night when a canoe capsized on the Sauk River.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says three people were in the canoe near the Heim's Mill canoe access when it capsized.

Two of the occupants--27 year-old Jared Stroeing of Sauk Rapids and 25 year-old Lisa Fowler of St. Cloud--were able to swim to shore.

A third occupant--28 year-old Scott Nordmann of St. Cloud--was able to swim to an island and hang onto tree branches before he was rescued by Sartell firefighters.
