ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - The names of five candidates for the two judicial vacancies in the Seventh Judicial District have been submitted to Gov. Mark Dayton.
One of them, Daniel Benson, is a former Assistant Stearns County Atttorney who currently is a criminal defense attorney. The chosen judges will replace Peter Irvine and Lisa Borgen on the bench of the district that includes Becker, Benton, Clay, Douglas, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Otter Tail, Stearns, Todd and Wadena counties.
Micheal Fritz is also a candidate, he is the current Becker County Attorney. He joins Heather Brandborg, an assistant Otter Tail County Attorney, Michelle Clark, an assistant in Douglas COunty and the Clay County Attorney Brian Melton.
