BROOTEN, Minn. (KNSI) A Brooten woman is Minnesota's newest millionaire.

The Minnesota State Lottery says Leona Veltikold won a million dollars by playing Million Dollar Jackpot. That's a 30-dollar scratch game that offers a top prize of a million dollars.

Veltikold bought her ticket at Rooster's Bottle Shop in Brooten on Tuesday. She was on her way to play bingo when she discovered her big win.

She immediately signed the ticket and then stopped at a friend's house to put it in a safe until it could be redeemed. That happened Wednesday, when Veltikold cashed in her winning ticket at Lottery headquarters in Roseville.

Veltikold says the winning ticket means it's going to be a nice Christmas for her and her family.
