EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (KNSI) - Human remains have been discovered in the St. Cloud area, and authorities are now investigating to see if they may belong to missing Eden Prairie woman Mandy Matula.

The Eden Prairie Police Department was alerted to the development by the Stearns County Police Department.

Stearns County officials say the remains were found in a shallow grave by a hiker around 1 pm on Saturday in Mississippi River Park.

At this time, the identity and gender of the person are unknown. Officers from Eden Prairie have partnered with Stearns County officials and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to determine if the finding is related to the Mandy Matula missing persons investigation.

Matula has been missing since May 1st, when she was last seen with ex-boyfriend David Roe. Roe committed suicide in the parking lot of the Eden Prairie Police Station before he could be questioned.

No other details have been released, but updates will be shared on edenprairie.org/missingperson.
