ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Travel will become extremely difficult--if not impossible--in parts of central and southern Minnesota Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night as fierce northwest winds move into the region.

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning that DOES include the St. Cloud area from 11:00 am until 3 o'clock Thursday morning. Northwest winds will gust up to 50 miles per hour. Due to the very deep snowpack in the region, widespread blowing snow is expected, which could lead to drifts on roadways exceeding three feet in open locations.

Visibilities will be a quarter-mile or less, with whiteout conditions expcected at times.

A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect early Wednesday morning, and will expire at 11:00, when the Blizzard Warning takes effect.

Other cities in the Blizzard Warning include Alexandria, Glenwood, Long Prairie, Montevideo, Willmar, Litchfield, and Redwood Falls.
