ST. PAUL, Minn (AP) - A new department could be added to the Minnesota government thanks to a new bill set for introduction today.
With a focus on early childhood development, the bill would create the Minnesota Department of Early Care and Education, shifting duties from three departments including health, human services and education.
One stated goal of the bill is to increase the state's ability to make sure pre-school children are ready once they hit elementary
If approved, Minnesota's new agency would open later this year.
