Benton sheriff to retire

FOLEY, Minn. (KNSI)  Another sheriff in the St. Cloud area has announced he will not be running for re-election this year.

Benton County Sheriff Brad Bennett says he's retiring after his current term ends. Bennett has been with the department for 29 years, and is in his second term as sheriff. He'll retire in January.

Bennett has been in law enforcement for 33 years, and previously worked for police departments in Parkers Prairie and Browns Valley.

Earlier this year, Morrison County Sheriff Michel Wetzel also announced he would not be running for re-election.
