FOLEY, Minn. (KNSI) A Benton County deputy sheriff who fired his gun at a man during a confrontation at a St. Cloud area storage unit has returned to work after being placed on administrative leave.

Deputy Steven Reese fired his gun at Christopher Knyphausen of Litchfield after Knyphausen fired at him at Airway Storage in Minden Township.

A review of the case by the Sherburne County Attrorney's Office found that Reese was justified in using his weapon to defend himself.

Nobody was injured in the exchange of gunfire on July 31st.

Knyphausen was arrested later that day, and is now facing charges of second-degree assaut. He's being held in the Benton County Jail on $100,000 bail.
