GRANITE FALLS, Minn. (AP) — A judge has set bail at $3 million dollars for a Granite Falls man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend.
Yellow Medicine County Attorney Keith Helgeson cited 28-year-old Andrew Dikken's "cold and calculated actions" in the shooting deaths of 26-year-old Kara Monson and her 28-year-old boyfriend, Chris Panitzke.
Helgeson also says Dikken remains a threat to the victims' families and the public.
Dikken made his first court appearance Thursday on two counts of second-degree murder. Dikken was the subject of a two-week manhunt after the Sept. 2 shootings at Monson's Granite Falls home.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says Dikken showed up at his parents' Renville home Tuesday and they immediately turned him in to the Renville County sheriff's office.
