ST. CLOUD, MN (KNIS) - Congresswoman Michele Bachmann has endorsed a Tea Party activist in a state legislative race.
Bachmann's campaign announced Monday she's endorsing Cindy Pugh of Chanhassen in her August 14th primary race against 11-term incumbent Representative Steve Smith of Mound.
Pugh co-founded the Southwest Metro Area Tea Party. Minnesota House Speaker Kurt Zellers has also endorsed Pugh.
Smith was one of only four House Republicans who broke party ranks and voted against the amendment that would define marriage in the state constitution as between one man and one woman. Bachmann was a leading advocate in support of that amendment while serving in the state Senate.
