WASHINGTON, D.C. (KNSI) Congresswoman Michele Bachmann has introduced a resolution in the U.S. House condemning Russia's ban on adoption of its children by Americans.
Bachman and Democratic Representative Karen Bass of California introduced the resolution.
The adoption ban went into effect January first, and was enacted as part of a bill retaliating for a new U.S. law that calls for sanctions against Russians deemed to be human rights violators.
In a news release, Bachmann says the ban prevents the U.S. from being a world leader in providing homes to Russia's more than 70-thousand orphans.
The U.S. Senate has passed a similar resolution.
