ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Work on the 2014 St. Cloud city budget is wrapping up.

Mayor Dave Kleis says truth in taxation statements will be mailed to city residents next month, and a final poublic hearing on the budget will be held during the first city council meeting in December.

The mayor says overall spending in the 2014 budget is about four-percent less than this year.  He says that's due to a lower amount of debt service.

Kleis says the economy is "turing around and going in the right direction," and going forward, he says the city wants to be very cautious so, "we don't upset that economic development piece by adversely affecting property owners and businesses."
