ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) West Nile virus is beginning to make its presence felt in Minnesota.

The State Health Department reported this week that 16 cases have been confirmed in the state--including three in Stearns County--and one death has been linked to the virus.

The department's Dave Neitzel says it's common for the first cases to show up in farm country. He says each year, the number of cases peak around mid-August.

He says the group at highest risk would be the elderly and people with underlying health conditions.
