ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Officials at the St. Cloud V-A Medical Center held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday morning on their new audiology clinic.
The new clinic features six audiology booths--twice the number previously available as part of a 2,800 square foot expansion.
The double-walled booths allow doctors to perform complete hearing evaulations, hearing aid fittings and other hearing-related examinations.
V-A- Director Barry Bahl says studies have shows that as many as 80-percent of veterans returning from combat are suffering from some sort of hearing-related issue.
In 2008, the St. Cloud V-A had four audiologists on staff. They now have eleven, with plans to add a twelfth.
The expanded audiology clinic will improve Veteran access for hearing evaulations by decreasing wait times for appointments and doubling the capacity to serve Veterans.
