ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) The United Way of Central Minnesota is getting closer to hiring a new CEO.

That position has been vacant since Patrick Powell resigned after one year on the job to move back to Ohio.

United Way's marketing manager--Jessica Johnson--says the application period for the job is closed.

A local committee of volunteers is now vetting the applications. Interviews are expected to begin in mid-August, with a hiring in late August or early September. Powell's replacement should be on board in September or October.

Betty Schnettler and Kathy Zenzen have been serving as co-interim directors at United Way since Powell resigned.
