ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) The search for a new head men's basketball coach at St. CLoud State University is nearly finished.

Three finalists for the job had on-campus interviews this week. The finalists are longtime Huskies assistant coach Matt Reimer, Truman State head coach Matt Woodley and Kennedy-King College athletic director Rodell Davis.

SCSU athletic director Heather Weems tells KNSI News, "we had three excellent candidates, all of whom could lead our department."  She says the search committee did a "great job" of going through the 70 candidates who applied for the job.

Weems says, "hopefully in the next few days, we will have an announcement to make."

The Huskies are looking for a replacement for longtime head coach Kevin Schlagel, who stepped down as coach following 341 wins in a head coaching career that began at SCSU in 1997.
