ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Red Cross volunteers from Minnesota are being dispatched to Colorado to help residents there deal with historic flooding.
Lynette Nyman is the communications manager for the Northern Minnesota Region of the American Red Cross. She says volunteers are "already on the ground in Colorado, or are packing their bags, and will be on the ground soon."
Nyman says she could be called to volunteer in a communications role. She says the requests for volunteers are "ramping up." as people needed places to stay for a longer period of time. She says there will be a need for, "shelter volunteers, mass care feeding volunteers." In her words, "the need is growing."
People who want to donate to Colorado flood victims through the Red Cross can do that by going to www.redcross.org, by calling 1-800-Red Cross or by texting "90999" from your cell phone, which results in an automatic ten-dollar contribution.
