MINNEAPOLIS (KNSI) - The American Red Cross is hoping people don't forget the importance of donating blood during busy holiday times when total donations can get a little lean.
A drop of donations comes especially this week around the 4th of july according to spokeswoman Sue Gonsior. She's says they hope people keep blood donations on their to do lists. There is an American Red Cross donation center on West St. Germaine open every day of the week. It takes only about an hour to donate, and Gonsoir says that hour can be the difference in saving someone elses life.
This year the Red Cross is giving out some nice prizes as incentives.
Until July 15th all donors will be entered to win one of five possible $3,000 dollar American Express Gift cards. Gonsoir says it is all a part of their push for real life stories surrounding the donation of blood. They encourage recipeints and donors alike to share their stories of how blood donations changed their lives.
