ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) After a cold and snowy winter, central Minnesota will see its first soaking rain of the spring season Wednesday and Thursday.

National Weather Service forecaster Rick Hiltbrand says rainfall amounts in the St. Cloud area could see an inch of rain by Thursday, while areas of southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin could see an inch and a half of moisture.

Hiltbrand says the air becomes more unstable Wednesday night and that's when a few claps of thunder are possible.

The rain will push out by the weekend, but it will remain cool, with highs in the upper 40s and low 50s.
