ST. CLOUD (KNSI) - The incoming bishop of the Catholic Diocese of St. Cloud will assume his new role this week.
Bishop Donald Kettler comes to St. Cloud after having served as bishop in Fairbanks, Alaska.
A Mass of Installation is being held at 2 pm on Thursday at the Cathedral of St. Mary in St. Cloud, which is an invitation-only event.
However, Anita Fischer, the Director of the Office of Worship for the Diocese, says the Solemn Vespers litury at St. Mary's Cathdral on Wednesday night at 7pm is open to the public, with Bishop Kettler presiding.
Fischer says, as far as the actual installation is concerned, some two-dozen bishops, mainly from across the upper midwest, are expected to attend. It will be streamed live on the internet, available on the Dioceses' website.
This is the first time in nearly two decades that the St. Cloud Diocese has installed a new bishop. Kettler replaces Bishop John Kinney, who began his service in St. Cloud on July 6, 1995.
