ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) AAA Minnesota reports the number of people traveling 50 or more miles for the Thanksgiving holiday will be down slightly from last year.

Spokesman Gail Weinholzer says 43.4 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles for the holiday this year. That's down about one-and-a-half percent from 2012.

Weinholzer says it follows a trend of fewer travelers for Memorial Day and the Fourth of July this year. She says people, "are being a bit cautious with their money" as the economy continues to pull its way out of the Great Recssion.

Weinholzer says those who do travel will find lower gas prices than a year ago. The statwide average is $3.07 a gallon in Minnesota. That's 21 cents cheaper than Thanksgiving a year ago.
