ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Freezing rain caused a travel mess in and around the St. CLoud area Friday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory through 9:00 am due to rain, freezing rain and sleet that iced up roads and highways, and made travel extremely dangerous.

The road conditions also caused many school districts in the area to call off classes fo the day. That list included Albany, Eden Valley-Watkins, Holdingford, Kimball, Paynesville, ROCORI, Swanville, and Upsala. Many other districts started two hours late.

The icy conditions will disappear this weekend. Forecasters are calling for high temperatures in the low 40s on Sunday.
