ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Scorching temperatures over the past week had central Minnesota facing a blowtorch in the dog days of summer. Respite in the form of 70 degree temperatures are expected early this week. Meanwhile forecasters are saying after this week, temperatures will return to some sense of normalcy.
Todd Heitkamp with the National Weather Service says while it will warm up again this week, the first half of the month looks to bring near normal temperatures across the Upper Midwest.
We did see thunderstorms roll through the central part of the state this weekend. But Heitkamp says thunderstorms will not be the norm in the coming month.
Rainfall total for the month of August topped out at just .85 inches of rain, nearly 3 full inches below the average recorded for the month. Heitkamp says the mild dry conditions will continue.
Temperatures today are expected to top out at 75 degrees Monday in St. Cloud.
