ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Stearns County voters will have a choice to make come November on who their sheriff should be.

Incumbent John Sanner is running again. He's been with the sheriff's department for 30 years, and is running for re-election.

Also joining the race is Stearns County Commissioner Mark Broemenschenkel, who has prior law enforcement experience with the Sartell and Randall police departments and the Morrison County Sheriff's Office.

Sanner notes that Stearns County is in the middle of a major jail renovation project scheduled for completion next year. He says, "I'm from a generation where I like to finish what I start."

Broemenschenkel has been on the county commission since 2010. He says, "now is the time" for sheriff. "Now's the time to do it or I'm not going to do it at all."

Broemenschekel's commission seat is due to expire in 2016.
