ST. CLOUD (KNSI) - Central Minnesota hasn't seen the last of the polar vortex - this latest cold snap will continue through the weekend into the early part of next week.

Lisa Schmit, a meteorologist from the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, tells KNSI the St. Cloud area is looking at a high temperature of -2 for Saturday and 2-3 degrees above zero on Sunday.

As far as the overnight hours are concerned, Schmit says, they'll remain bitterly cold, with lows between 20-25 below zero.

Schmit says it looks like single-digit highs will spill over into the early part of next week, but we can expect a warm-up throughout the week.

By Wednesday and Thursday, we're looking at highs in the 20s, possibly sneaking above freezing on Friday.

Normal highs on this day are in the low 30s, and the lows are usually about 12 degrees.
