MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - An attorney for a fired Senate staffer has confirmed that his client had an intimate relationship with former Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch.

Attorney Phil Villaume says the admission is in a notice of claim he filed with the state on Tuesday as part of potential litigation.

Villaume represents Michael Brodkorb, who was fired in December one day after Koch abruptly resigned. Koch later admitted an affair with a male staffer but had refused to name him. The circumstances of Brodkorb's dismissal hadn't been revealed.

Brodkorb referred questions to Villaume. Koch did not immediately respond to a message from The Associated Press.
