Ashes of mother stolen from woman's vehicle

WINONA, Minn. (AP) - An urn of ashes has been stolen from a woman's vehicle in Winona. The ashes are the remains of the woman's mother.
Police say the urn was taken from a box inside the vehicle when it was parked outside an apartment building. The woman reported the theft Sunday. The theft is believed to have occurred sometime after Sept. 7.
Police Chief Tom Williams tells KAGE the urn is metal and about 7-8 inches tall. It has a black shiny finish with engraving on the side.
