ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) A Monticello man was arrested after he was chased and tased early this morning.

Around midnight Friday morning, a St. Cloud police officer tried to make a routine traffic stop near Interstate 94 and County Road 136.

But the driver refused to stop, and a chase ensued on the Interstate at speeds of between 70 and 80 miles per hour. Officers used stop sticks to deflate the tires on the suspect's vehicle and 23 year-old Paul Joseph Arthur Kruse--who was uncooperative--was tased and taken into custody near the vicinity of I-94 and the Avon exit for County Road 6.

He's being held in the Stearns County Jail on charges of Fleeing Police, 2nd Degree DWI, 2nd Degree DWI Test Refusal, Obstructing the Legal Process Driving after Revocation and Speeding.

Stearns County deputies and a Waite Park police officer were also involved in the pursuit.
