ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Area Schools Closing for a 2nd With temperatures again expected south of zero and extreme wind chills for a second straight day on Tuesday, area schools announced classes will remain closed for another day.
St. Cloud Area SChools, Sartell-St. Stephen Schools, Sauk Rapids-Rice Schools, ROCORI Schools, Foley Schools and Albany Schools all announced closings Monday afternoon.
A wind chill warning is in effect until 12:00 pm Tuesday. Wind chill values as children make their way to school or wait for buses may see temperatures of 35 to 50 below zero.
Most Minnesota schools were closed Monday due to extreme cold, many for the fourth time this month, and there is no immediate relief in sight. School-closing listings showed about 500 alerts across the state. KNSI is your source for all the latestest closings and delays.
Closing decisions for St. Cloud area schools are made jointly by area districts. Sauk Rapids-Rice Superintendent Dan Bittman says they will always air on the side of caution when deciding to cancel classes in the face of extreme temperatures.
