HINCKLEY, Minn. (AP) The chief political group opposed to legal gay marriage in Minnesota is taking its case on the road with a series of greater Minnesota rallies.
The first is tonight at Tobie's Restaurant in Hinckley. Similar events are planned in upcoming days in Hermantown, Grand Rapids, Brainerd, Detroit Lakes, Morris, Eden Prairie, Owatonna, Austin and Montevideo.
A flyer advertising the rallies argues that ``the metro area shouldn't be allowed to force gay marriage on the rest of the state.''
Polls have shown higher support for gay marriage in the state's larger cities compared to rural areas.
The Legislature may vote on gay marriage later this session. On Thursday, gay marriage supporters released a letter from 26 prominent business leaders to Gov. Mark Dayton and legislative leaders urging them to pass the bill this year.
