Anoka boy, 3, who appeared to be abused has died

ANOKA, Minn. (AP) - A 3-year-old Anoka boy who authorities believe was the victim of repeated abuse has died.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Sunday that the Anoka County attorney will now consider more serious charges in the case.

The boy's mother, 40-year-old Elizabeth Moorman of Anoka, had already been charged with one count of neglect. Her boyfriend, 24-year-old Anthony Urban of Andover, is charged with first-degree assault.

Urban allegedly hit the boy last Monday, but his mother didn't take him to the hospital until Tuesday. The child was put on life support at Hennepin County Medical Center. Doctors were working this weekend to stop swelling in his brain. But authorities say Sunday that the child didn't make it.
