Albany man arrested for felony assault

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) An Albany man was arrested on an assault charged by St. Cloud police early Sunday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the 10 block of 5th Avenue South just after 2 am.

The victim--a 24 year-old St. Cloud man--has been punched has been punched in the head in front of the Red Carpet by 23 year-old Matthew Robert Blackmore. The punch caused the victim to fall to the ground. He was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital emergency room where he received stitches to close his wounds.

Blackmore was located a couple of blocks from the scene and arrested. He was booked into the Stearns County Jail on a charge of third degree assault.

Sergeant Jason Burke says their investigation determined the victim was on a date with Blackmore's ex-girlfriend when the assault occured.
