ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Advocates of medical marijuana are pushing for a Minnesota House vote on their legalization bill by trying to attach it to a separate health bill.
The vote could come Wednesday. The medical marijuana measure will be proposed as an amendment when a wider-ranging health bill comes up.
Republican Rep. Pat Garofalo of Farmington is listed as the author. The amendment calls for a broader medical marijuana law than Gov. Mark Dayton has said he is willing to back.
A stand-alone medical marijuana bill has stalled. The amendment strategy might be the only way for advocates to get lawmakers on record. But even some of those who support the cause could balk at tying it to a separate bill.
