ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) -- Pack the Porches community food drive returned to St. Cloud today at two locations. Catholic Charities held the event at Pioneer Place on Fifth as well as St. Cloud Hyundai through the morning today in efforts to restock the shelves at Catholic Charities emergency services food shelves.
Today's food drive broke a record, for their event. Over $13,000 were raised in todays effort, a new record for Pack the Porches. In addition to the $13,000, over 2,500 pounds of food was brought in and Coborn's, as promised, matched the donation of 10,000 pounds of food.
Communications Coordinator at Catholic Charities told KNSI that Catholic Charities emergency services food shelves served about 2,000 families each month, making it one of the largest food shelves in the St. Cloud area. Catholic Charities, at that location, has a food shelf, clothing program and financial assistance, serving almost 5,000 people a month.
