ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Fifty dairy cows died in a large barn fire in Spring Hill Township early Friday, according to Stearns County sheriff's officials.

Stearns County deputies were dispatched to a fire located at 28714 363rd Avenue, just after 2 a.m. Friday.

When deputies arrived, a large barn was fully engulfed. The barn contained approximately 75 dairy cows, and only 20-25 were able to make it out unharmed, according to police reports.

The total loss to the farm remains unknown, but its value will be greater than $100,000 in damages.

Several fire departments assisted in putting out the fire: Lake Henry, Elrosa and Belgrade fire all assisted at the scene as well as Melrose Ambulance.
