WILLIAMS, Minn. (AP) — Preliminary autopsy results indicate two Twin Cities area men found dead in a boat on Lake of the Woods died of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning.
The Lake of the Woods County sheriff's office says a third man remained hospitalized Tuesday.
Authorities were called about 11:30 p.m. Sunday to an area near Birch Beach, north of Williams in far northern Minnesota.
Authorities arrived to find the bodies of 44-year-old Lonnie Ray Norberg and 35-year-old Jeffrey Edward Wheeler, both of Champlin. A third man, 43-year-old Christopher Andrew Klick of Crystal, was taken to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.
The Grand Forks Herald reports the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.
