(KNSI) - A girl suffered serious life-threatening injuries in an ATV accident near Freeport.
Around 10:15 on Saturday morning, 9-year-old Eve Shaw was a passenger on a 2007 Polaris Ranger ATV when the 11-year-old driver tried to go around a curve and lost control of the ATV, causing it to roll onto the driver's side.
Eve wasn't wearing a seat belt and flew from the ATV, landing on the ground.
The Freeport girl was taken to the Melrose Hospital then airlifted to a hospital in the Twin Cities.
Her current condition is unknown.
The ATV was owned by Nicholas and Gwen Shaw and the accident happened on their driveway in Millwood Township.
The ATV's driver, Ava Smith of Melrose, was wearing her seat belt and suffered minor injuries.
Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
