(KNSI) - The Tech Tigers gave it their all against defending state champion Elk River, but came up just one point shy of forcing overtime in the section championship.
The snow covered field at Buffalo High School kept both teams usual high powered offenses from racking up their usual points.
University of Minnesota commit Brevyn Spann-Ford brought down 2 touchdown, passes from quarterback Nate Trewick, both came in the 4th quarter.
Spann-Ford's second TD grab came from 8 yards out with just :48 left in the game.
During the extra point, Elk River's 6 foot 3, 310 pound nose tackle broke through the line and blocked the extra point, ending the game and the Tigers state tournament hopes.
Tech Head Coach Greg Martig was proud the way his guys finished hard against a difficult opponent.
"Brevyn did a great job of just making some outstanding individual plays and gave us a chance at the end, you can't fault the effort, Elk River has a very good football team obviously and I thought our kids did an outstanding job competing all night."
Tech will be losing a lot of senior leadership to graduation, but there's four players in particular Martig leaned on to play both ways.
"The four kids for us that play two ways all season I think are a pretty special group, you loose Meyer and Ford, and Kaczor and Brenner, those guys just do a great job, you don't get to coach a group of kids like that real often that are that skilled."
Hats off to all the players and coaches for Tech, it was an excellent season.
