(KNSI) - Police have released the names of the three people involved in a fatal wrong-way crash in Waite Park.
The Waite Park Police Department says Charlie Barnett, 28, of St. Cloud, was driving a Chevy Malibu westbound in the eastbound lanes of Division Street Monday night when he crashed head-on into an El Camino.
Two people in the El Camino were killed. Police identified them as Richard Tomlinson, 61, of Grantsburg, Wisconsin and Roger Nelson, 77, of Clearwater.
Police say Tomlinson was in town test driving the El Camino for possible purchase from Nelson.
Barnett survived the crash and remains hospitalized.
He's being guarded by law enforcement and will be transported to the Stearns County Jail upon release from the hospital.
Waite Park Police Chief Dave Bentrud says charges pending against Barnett include, criminal vehicular operation, reckless driving and violating an order of protection.
He says additional charges are possible.
Stearns County court records show Barnett was booked at the jail on Sunday on a charge of violating an order of protection, and was released on Monday.
