Strong Winds Bring Down Trees

(KNSI) - A lot of people are cleaning up branches and even entire trees after strong winds did some damage in the St. Cloud area.
The strong wind gusts were on the back end of a line of storms that moved through the area Monday afternoon.
Judy Feneis was in her living room in Sartell across from the high school when she looked out the window around 5 o'clock and saw the patio umbrella really whipping in the wind.
"I was like wow, the wind has really picked up. And then I heard a couple of bangs and I opened the garage door and realized we had a lot of damage."
The tops of several red oaks were snapped off by the powerful winds and one red oak was toppled at its base.
Despite the damage, and the loss of the big red oak, Judy and her husband Steve are staying positive.
"It's kinda neat, the neighborhood kids came over and wanted to help, so we've got them cleaning up."
He says there were about 120 trees on their property on 7th Street North when they moved in 37 years ago and now they're down to about 80 thanks to mostly spring and summer storms.
"It's nature's pruning," Steve joked.
The National Weather Service issued a High Wind Warning late in the day on Monday.
Forecasters say a wind gust of 55 miles per hour was recorded at the St. Cloud airport.
The weather will be much more mundane on Tuesday, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 77.
