ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - A lot of people came out to a Stop The Violence event in St. Cloud over the weekend.
The event at South Junior High School was put on by Promise Neighborhood of Central Minnesota.
"It's a great event to bring the community together," said Aric Putnam of Promise Neighborhood.
"We feed folks, they play basketball together, we have tables for different community organizations to talk about the services that they offer."
He says the event aims to stop violence of all kinds, whether its out in the streets or in the home.
Anna Marie's Alliance, which provides a refuge for victims of domestic abuse, was one of the many organizations at the event.
School supplies were also readily available for students.
St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis was at the event, but didn't hoop it up.
"He's a much better mayor than he is basketball player," joked Putnam.
