(KNSI) - Law enforcement seized a stolen gun and drugs during a traffic stop in Foley.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office says a deputy saw a vehicle driving very slowly and weaving around 2 a.m. Saturday in Foley, so a traffic stop was initiated.

The deputy smelled marijuana and alcohol inside the vehicle.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found the remains of a marijuana cigarette.

The driver, 23-year-old Nathaniel Paul Golterman (left), of Foley, didn't have a valid driver's license and didn't have insurance on the vehicle.

The sheriff's office says the passenger, 18-year-old Derian Ray Gordon (right), of St. Cloud, admitted to having a loaded 40 caliber semi-automatic handgun on him and said he had been drinking.

Deputies ran a search of the serial number and found the gun was reported stolen.

Authorities also recovered 15 Xanax pills from Gordon.

He was arrested and taken to the Benton County Jail, where five more Xanax pills were found on Gordon.

The sheriff's office says his blood alcohol content was above the legal limit to carry a firearm.

Also found during the search of the vehicle was a digital scale and suspected methamphetamine.

Gordon was booked into jail on charges of possession of stolen property, carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a pistol under the influence, and 5th degree possession of a controlled substance.

Golterman was issued a citation for careless driving, driving without insurance and a valid driver's license, and possession of a small amount of marijuana in a vehicle.
