(KNSI) - The Rocori School Board has narrowed down the applicant pool in their search for a new superintendent.
At a special meeting of the board, Kenneth Dragseth with Minneapolis based search firm School Exec Connect says there was a lot of interest in the position. Dragseth said they spoke to around 40 candidates before narrowing it down to 26.
He says they came from a variety of backgrounds including ten superintendents, eight hold director or executive director positions such as those found in a school district office. Seven principals applied and one teacher also applied. Of the 26 applicants, six candidates were presented to the board.
Those six are expected to be whittled down even further to just two or three candidates. The interview process is expected to take until at least tomorrow.
Whomever the board chooses for the job will be replacing former superintendent Scott Staska who resigned earlier this year after being arrested and charged with 19 counts of indecent exposure.
