(KNSI) - The League of American Bicyclists has recognized Sartell with the Bronze level Bicycle Friendly Community award.

“We applaud communities like Sartell for making bicycling a safe, comfortable, and convenient option for transportation and recreation,” said Bill Nesper, Executive Director of the League of American Bicyclists. “We are inspired by leaders who see bicycling as a way to build more vibrant, healthy, sustainable and connected communities and be a part of the solution to many complex public health and safety challenges faced at both the community and national levels.”

The City of Sartell is inviting the Community to help celebrate the Bronze level achievement by hosting a Bike to School event celebration on Thursday, May 30th from 2:30-5pm at Lion’s park in Sartell.

St. Cloud and Willmar are also Bronze level Bicycle Friendly Communities.

There are 475 bicycle friendly communities across the country with 29 of them in Minnesota.
