(KNSI) – The St.
Cloud Rox will have two returning star players who are familiar with local
baseball fans.

2019 Rox Pitcher
of the Year Trevor Koenig (St. Cloud State University and Tech High School
graduate) and 2019 Team Most Valuable Player Jordan Barth (TOP) (Augustana University
and ROCORI High School graduate) will be on the roster again in 2020.

Rox
Vice-President and Co-Owner Scott Schreiner said he’s excited to have the
players back.

“First off
they’re outstanding human beings, but second of all, they’re great baseball
players too. Just two outstanding players that we’re excited to build the
roster around.”

Schreiner says
they like to start scouting with the talent in their backyard.

“I think the
recruiting processes starts local, and then it branches its way out. Of course,
we have players from all over the country, but we certainly start here.”

Koenig, a junior
left-handed pitcher at St. Cloud State University, returns to the Rox following
the 2019 season, where he was selected as a Midseason and Postseason Northwoods
League All-Star.

He made ten regular season starts on the mound
while posting a 1.35 earned run average. Koenig tied the Rox single-season
record for wins with a 7-2 record in 60 innings pitched.

The St. Cloud
native was drafted in the 40th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft by
the Milwaukee Brewers before electing to attend St. Cloud State University.

Barth is a junior
infielder at Augustana University, returning following the 2019 season, where
he was selected to the Postseason Northwoods League All-Star team.

He appeared in 71
regular-season games while leading the team with a .323 batting average.

The Cold Spring
native set numerous Rox single-season records including hits (99), doubles
(25), extra-base hits (32), total bases (144), and runs scored (54).

Rox Field Manager
Augie Rodriguez and the Rox organization will continue to build the roster for
the 2020 season.

The Rox will open
their ninth season of Northwoods League baseball in 2020.

Last year the
team made the postseason and won the Northwoods league title in 2017.
