Robbery Suspect Charged

(KNSI) - A man has been charged with robbing a grocery store and a gas station in St. Cloud.
Police say 25-year-old Ayub Abdullahi Mohamed walked into the Kwik Trip on Highway 23 East around 1:20 a.m. on November 29th with a knife and demanded cash.
Investigators say he was given cash and left the store.
Police say Mohamed also walked into the Cash Wise East Store just after 1:00 p.m. on Monday and presented a note to the cashier that demanded cash and claimed he had a weapon.
According to the criminal complaint, the St. Cloud man was given cash along with a carton of cigarettes and fled the store.
Investigators say witnesses identified Mohamed as the robber from surveillance pictures. Police also had pictures of a Jeep believed to involved in the robbery.
Police say the Jeep was found at 3, 14th Street Southeast with the carton of cigarettes inside. The owner of the Jeep said the Mohamed had been using it.
Around midnight, police were surveilling the address while they waited for a search warrant when a car with no license plate drove by the area.
The car was pulled over and the driver was Mohamed. Police say at first, he gave police his brother’s name.
He’s been charged in Benton County District Court with 1st degree aggravated robbery, 2nd degree aggravated robbery and giving a peace officer a false name.
Bond was set at $150,000 without conditions and 60,000 with conditions. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 16th.
A warrant has been issued for Mohamed in Stearns County District Court on a charge of 2nd degree aggravated robbery.
Mohamed is accused of robbing second Kwik Trip on the 3700 block of 23rd Street South on Sunday. Police say he walked into the gas station and told the clerk he had a gun and the money wasn't worth losing his life.
Investigators say he got away with $214.
